Ashe County NC
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ashe County
North Carolina is a place like none other.
Located in northwestern North Carolina, natives

things to do in Ashe County NC. In the summer, you can
enjoy NC hiking and mountain biking down the Blue
Ridge Parkway, and the many mountain trails in
the area. For those that enjoy the water, you
can tube down the New River, the second oldest
river in the world! For an adrenaline rush, try
white water rafting or kayaking. For golfers,
Ashe County NC has a few great courses and the area
is nearby to some of the best championship golf
courses in North Carolina.
In the fall, people flock to the the Blue Ridge
Mountains to enjoy
the beautiful leaf colors and fall foliage
changes. The sides of the mountains blaze with
reds, oranges, and bright yellow colors. In the
winter, the snow falls, and the area becomes a
winter wonderland. Ashe County NC is very close to
popular ski areas and snow skiing in the winter
is a big sport for all to enjoy. In the spring,
you can see beautiful landscapes of dogwood,
rhododendron, mountain laurel and other mountain
flowers abloom.
Many of the mountain traditions practiced by the
original inhabitants have been passed down from
generation to generation and therefore they have
been preserved, making Ashe County NC an excellent
place to visit to learn more about the
Appalachian culture. There are a few museums and
cultural arts places you can visit to learn more
about how people lived in the mountains of Ashe
County hundreds of years ago.
The towns in Ashe County like Glendale Springs,
Lansing, and Jefferson are small rural towns
that are perfect for getting away from
everything and just relaxing. Whether you are
